In 2021, under the impact of the pandemic and stringent prevention policies, offline exhibitions in Shanghai became infeasible. Meanwhile, the rising value of cryptocurrencies fueled the growing popularity of discussions around the metaverse, and online exhibitions began to emerge as a critical format for showcasing art during the pandemic (2021–2022).

During this period, while working at Raiden INST, I explored online exhibition formats as a response to the challenging offline restrictions imposed by the pandemic. Subsequently, I collaborated with artists and curators to design and construct virtual exhibition spaces within the metaverse platform Cryptovoxels. This initiative served as a practical test of digital exhibition formats, documenting a unique approach to art exhibitions during an extraordinary time. It also provides an intriguing sample for studying and reflecting on Chinese social life during this period.
