This work originates from my experience of being confined to my dormitory in London during the lockdown in 2020. The room seemed to seal me in along with the surrounding world, quietly becoming part of a collective memory in the midst of waiting. As time passed, memories gradually blurred, and fragments of life during lockdown became like pebbles along the riverbank of time, slowly accumulating to form a path back to that period.
In this work, each object is encased in square resin blocks symbolizing the room. The feelings of loneliness, suffocation, and isolation echo the emotions of that time. Each item preserved within the resin captures details of life during the pandemic from its unique perspective—like the scent of the air or hair shed due to anxiety. The materials and elements sealed in resin serve as physical preservation, piecing together the multifaceted emotions of life during the pandemic. These encapsulations act as a series of records, reflecting both the experiences of the lockdown and its lingering impact on life thereafter
